Hello, I'm Muse. I'm a graduate studies student concentrating on comparative literature and creative writing. I'm also a professional writer and performing artist! My professional publications include short fiction for Paizo (makers of the Pathfinder and Starfinder tabletop roleplaying games) and academic contribution for the University of Michigan Press.Below you will find the tiers of editing and beta services I offer as well as pricing and my terms of service (TOS). Once you've read through, please fill out the submission form. For questions regarding commission requests, please use the email link below with the subject heading 'Commission Question.'

Disclaimer & Caveat

Before you choose to commission me, please understand and be advised: what I am offering is not a boost to the writer's ego or pride. I am not going to fill your notes (or your head) with empty praise for your ideas and work in order to build your confidence. My goal is to see your vision and help you refine and polish it and execute it to the best of your ability in your style. This involves critique, and if you are someone who is not comfortable taking critique then my services are not for you.

How It Works

1. Submit your request and choose your tier via the linked Google form. All fields are mandatory.2. Once form is received, and if your request is accepted, I’ll send you an invoice for your deposit to reserve your slot. All payments will be done via PayPal.3. Once full payment is received, I’ll begin reading your work in accordance with your place in the queue. All edits will be done via Google Docs or OpenDoc [.docx]. Comments and edits will hold the notes necessary as well as an editor’s note at the end of the document with overall reviews and suggestions.4. Depending on your tier, you will either get a detailed breakdown of your piece with reviews, or a general overview with suggestions.5. All pieces will be edited for grammar and spelling regardless of tier.6. I know it’s common to conflate critique as being mean to the writer, but in my opinion, a good critique opens a dialogue between the editor and the writer. I will likely have a lot of questions in my notes about parts of your work.7. Once my initial first reading and editing are done, your turnaround time for your chosen tier includes an open schedule to discuss any questions or concerns you have with my editor's notes and suggestions. I will reiterate: critique is not synonymous with browbeating; it is a discussion between you (author) and me (editor). The goal is to reach a polished piece of writing you are satisfied with and proud to publish.8. I try my best to work with vision of the writer rather than criticizing it. I will have questions, but it will always be in accordance with what I’m interpreting as your vision. A good editor isn’t fighting the writer, I'm working with the writer.
